What is digital humanities?
This web page is created thanks to my school subject called Digital Humanities (DH), but what does it men DH? Here is a definition:
- Using digital media to explore, create, analyse and decode meanings in cultural products, current affairs and social life.

On the Internet, you can find some projects based on the digital humanities, here you have three projects that, in my opinion, you can take as an example:
- https://www.hastac.org/about-hastac : this is the creation of a social network where some artists, scientist, humanists and other kind of people, who are teachers, try to find a different way to learn and teach humanities.
- http://dhasia.org/ : this web page analyses text and social networks. All related to the humanities.
- http://valley.lib.virginia.edu/ : this page uses the digital to archive the primary source materials.
Makeup
Makeup was a very important part of the look. It was powerful, aggressive and shining. Women liked to emphasize the jaw to make it look more masculine, give color to their cheeks and they gave a lot of importance in their eyes.
It was very important to have thick eyebrows even though they had to look very natural. They wanted to create a hard look through marking the septum of the nose, drawing a big eyeliner, applying strong eyes shadows and using colorful mascara. It was common to make a contrast between the eye shadows and the eyeliners.
The most colors to put on the lips were fuchsia, red, orange and also dark colors during the nights.
The blush was also very important, they used to apply a lot on the cheeks and sometimes they used to apply some highlighter.
Why are the 80’s important for fashion?
1980s is maybe one of the most important ages for fashion because as you might know, it changed a lot from what people were used to. Designers started thinking to create new and different things and try to design the future, so fashion completely changed into unimaginable things. Appeals started being very colorful and extravagant, no matter if it was for women or for man, everything became unrestrained. And not just for clothing, most of the accessories became very important in your look, like for example, the earrings turned out to be huge and faux-gold and necklaces were made of pearl. Makeup became crushing and hair style radically changed, it came to be curly and bouffant.
